ABOUT

Debra Hampton was born and raised in the suburbs of Los Angeles, California. She earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in Art History from California State University at Fullerton where she focused on royal and papal portraiture of Europe and the social/political murals in Latin America. She holds a Master of Art in Humanities and Social Thought from New York University with a certificate in Museum Studies.

Studying under the guidance of Timothy Druckrey, and assisting in the Film and New Media department of the Guggenheim museum, she assisted with several exhibitions and online programs pertaining to the influence and impact of the digital era on art production and distribution. Taking advantage of the interdisciplinary program at NYU, she also pursued coursework in gender studies, specifically pertaining to fine arts and advertising.

Ms. Hampton has been recipient of the Chashama AREA Studio Residency and an A.I.R. Gallery fellowship. Her work is in the collections of the Museum of Modern Art Permanent Drawing Collection, and The Frederick R. Weisman Foundation, and has been included in publications such as ArtReview (London), the New York Times, Queens Chronicle, Etapes Graphiques (France), and The New York Art World.

She is represented by Priska Juschka Fine Art in New York and maintains a studio in Long Island City.
